OTTAWA, ON – St John’s East MP, Joanne Thompson, remains in the federal cabinet as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) as Prime Minister Mark Carney swears in his new cabinet in Ottawa today.

Thompson was the only sitting Liberal MP in Newfoundland and Labrador to stay on and run in the 2025 election.
