ST. JOHN’S, Newfoundland – The Sea Rose offshore oil production platform is back producing oil on the White Rose oil field on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland.
Calgary oil company Cenovus Energy spent $1oo million on refitting the floating production rig in 2024 to extend its operational life another 14 years and tie into the pending West White Rose oil field which is expected to go into operation in 2026.
The West White Rose project is a satellite development that uses a fixed concrete drilling platform currently under construction in Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, Canada. Daily production is expected to reach 80,000 barrels. Photo by Greg Locke
