Eg Walters dies at age 77

ST JOHN’S, NL – Egbert (Eg) Walters, the man who dedicated thirty years of his life to feeding tens of thousands of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians through the Community Food Sharing Association and its associated food banks has died at age 77. 

Walters served with the Community Food Sharing Association for more than three decades. His family said it was a passion more than a job.

“Eg lived a full life of adventure and giving back to his community. Spending time hunting, fishing, sailing, woodworking, camping and travelling, he experienced more life than most people can dream of,” his obituary reads.

The Community Food Sharing Association, is the pivotal agency for food distribution to the hungry in Newfoundland and Labrador.

From its office and warehouse in St. John’s its six staff and hundreds of volunteers and community-minded businesses manage the collection and distribution of food through 60 food banks to more than 15,400 children, women, and mena year.
