Andrea Barbour’s performance was impressive. Newfoundland and Labrador’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation represented the Province on July 1st in France at the official ceremony marking the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Beaumont-Hamel.
According to the online business news service allnewfoundlandlabrador.com her Department says Minister Barbour “felt the emotion of the moment.”

Minister Barbour took the microphone on a warm, sunny day following remarks by Princess Anne, the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
Princess Anne was dressed in conservative dark blue attire accented by a light, pale blue scarf. The Minister, to be polite, was dressed more colourfully.
At the Kentucky Derby horse race there is a tradition of women wearing extravagant and flamboyant hats, either traditional wide brimmed hats or what are called “fascinators.”
The Minister’s delivery of her prepared remarks was kind of fascinating too.
Maybe it was just a matter of nerves, speaking at a solemn event on what the Moderator of the ceremony described as, “sacred ground.”
According to allnewfoundlandlabrador.com her Department acknowledged the Minister “may have flubbed some of her words.”
